Beautiful Siberian girl Irina Chashchina was often called Tsarevna Nesmejana (not laughing Tsarinya). Always serious and concentrated she did not afford much emotion. Discipline and dedication of Irina is explained by the fact that she was certain – nothing can be given easily. Chashchina didn’t have an ideal physical data for the gym. The weight, the lack of natural flexibility and plasticity were compensated by the hard work. Now beautiful gymnast Irina Chashchina is a multiple World and European champion, Olympic silver medalist in 2004, two-time absolute champion of Russia.
In the national team of Russia Irina Chashchina came at age 12, and at 17 fell into the hands of Irina Viner, who began to grow out of gymnast Irina an Olympic champion. Together with another favorite of Viner – Alina Kabaeva, Irina became the star of gymnastics, her name resounded throughout the world, and awards were showered upon her. Shortly after the Athens Games Irina Chashchina decided to end her career in rhythmic gymnastics. “There, at the Olympics, I left all of me, all of my emotions. The first two weeks after the Olympics, I was lying and could not do anything. But then I recovered – by a trip to India. Very significant for my future life. I plucked up energy there and realized that I should move on, “- said Chashchina in an interview.
The first two years after retiring from the sport were easy for Chaschina. She was thinking what to do next, she said, “was looking for an application”, participated in various shows. “Dancing on Ice” and “Circus with the Stars” helped Irina come out of depression and get away from the disturbing thoughts about the future. A successful life was waiting for Chashchina. She received a second degree at the Academy of Public Administration, tried her hand at politics, became an expert in sports and dance programs in the chain of fitness clubs. 29-year-old Irina Chashchina was married to a school friend of Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev – a businessman Evgeny Arkhipov. In May 2013 Irina opened a school of rhythmic gymnastics in Siberian city of Barnaul.
