Biography

Shortly after the Athens Games Irina Chashchina decided to end her career in rhythmic gymnastics. “There, at the Olympics, I left all of me, all of my emotions. The first two weeks after the Olympics, I was lying and could not do anything. But then I recovered – by a trip to India. Very significant for my future life. I plucked up energy there and realized that I should move on, “- said Chashchina in an interview.

The first two years after retiring from the sport were easy for Chaschina. She was thinking what to do next, she said, “was looking for an application”, participated in various shows. “Dancing on Ice” and “Circus with the Stars” helped Irina come out of depression. And get away from the disturbing thoughts about the future. A successful life was waiting for Chashchina. She received a second degree at the Academy of Public Administration, tried her hand at politics, became an expert in sports. And dance programs in the chain of fitness clubs. 29-year-old Irina Chashchina was married to a school friend of Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev – a businessman Evgeny Arkhipov. In May 2013 Irina opened a school of rhythmic gymnastics in Siberian city of Barnaul.
