Russian couturier Valentin Yudashkin

According to RIA Novosti, Oct. 21, President Vladimir Putin awarded Russian couturier Valentin Yudashkin with the Order “For Services to the Fatherland IV degree”. As specified in the document, the fashion designer has received this award “for outstanding contribution to the development of national culture and the arts”. October 14, 2013 Russian fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin celebrated his 50th birthday and the 25th anniversary of creative activity. The lead designer of Russia Yudashkin was born in the village of Bakovka, Moscow region. The talented designer who in 1988 made ​​his first run, was quickly noticed by the French couturier and offered to study in Paris. Upon returning home, founded the fashion brand Valentin Yudashkin.

Valentin Yudashkin showed his first haute couture line under the name “Faberge”, it was appreciated both at home and in Paris. Yudashkin’s name became known all over the world, and his fashion shows were held every year at Fashion Week in Paris. In 1996, the fashion house Valentin Yudashkin, which grew from a small workshop into a world famous brand, acquired the status of a member – correspondent of the Paris haute couture syndicate.

Noteworthy is the fact that for the first time in the history of fashion in the list of honorary members of this prestigious organization, including Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, there was the name of a young designer from Russia. On this occasion, Yudashkin prepared the collection of pret-a-porter “City in the sand”.

Fashion House continued to grow and develop. In 1994, the brand has launched the first collection of pret-a-porte, in 1995, the presentation of the first perfume in 1997 in the center of Moscow has opened its first boutique brand. Valentin Yudashkin has become an attractive brand in the world market, thus, the Paris haute couture syndicate demanded that the designer opened his own workshop in France. For Yudashkin it meant a life in two countries and the transformation of the fashion house of the Russian into French.

Valentin, being a patriot of his country, decided to give up the services of the Paris Chamber of Commerce, the fashion designer who helped in the organization of previous shows, and spent his fashion shows with the support team of French Vogue. This not only drew more attention to the creativity of the designer, but also served as an example for other designers. Now under the name Valentin Yudashkin is clothes, shoes, jewelry, perfume and even dishes and home decoration.

Valentin Yudashkin is working closely with the Russian stars. Yudashkin has become one of the favorite designers of Russian pop stars. He sewed costumes for Philip Kirkorov, Lyudmila Gurchenko, Nadezhda Babkina. The famous black dress of Alla Pugacheva – also the handiwork of the Yudashkin. In the mid-’80s fashion diva met Yudashkin at her concert in the “Olympic”. Since then, the singer has consistently appeared in dresses from Yudashkin.

Yudashkin finds the inspiration for his creations in the rich heritage of Russian and world culture. Each collection is associated with a particular historical period, with works of great artists, sculptors and architects. Images borrowed from the world of art, appeared in the work of a designer with his very first collection.

For his outstanding contribution to the national culture, the fashion designer in 2005 was awarded the honorary title “People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.” And since 2001, Valentin Yudashkin is a member of the Council for Culture and Arts under the President of the Russian Federation. Valentin Yudashkin’s designed clothes – valuable exhibits of the International Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the State Historical Museum in Moscow, and on the 25th anniversary of his creative activity, in the Pushkin Museum.

Yudashkin can boast that he is an ideal family man. His wife Marina, who he met an artist working in the Ministry of Consumer Services of the RSFSR, from the very beginning became an indispensable assistant fashion designer in his endeavors. Marina was a successful barber – stylist, but for the sake of her husband decided to leave her career. Now she is a senior manager of the brand, as well as the main representative of Yudashkin at various events. “To say I am grateful to her for everything means to say nothing. I immensely appreciate the fact that she has dedicated her life to me. Believed in me”.

The daughter of the outstanding designer Galina Yudashkina automatically belongs to the category of “golden youth”. But, unlike most of wealthy teenagers, leading an idle life, Galina spent her time not in the clubs of the capital, but studied art history at Moscow State University and at a prestigious American School.
