
Space inspired Palekh paintings were published in the illustrated book-album of Soviet writer Albert Likhanov, Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR and the Lenin Komsomol. The book-thought about the heroism of Yuri Gagarin, the Motherland – the Soviet Union, which had nurtured the hero of the age-old dream of man – space exploration. Illustrations created by artists from the famous village of Palekh, in the Ivanovo region – Honored Artists of the RSFSR Kaleria Kukulieva, Boris Kukuliev, and young artist Oleg Antonov. Space inspired book-album about Gagarin, space exploration, was published by the 20th anniversary of The Day of Cosmonautics, which is annually celebrated on April 12 in Russia. The book has become the perfect example of traditional palekh miniature painting of the Soviet epoch.
