Russian actress Galina Belyaeva
Russian actress Galina Belyaeva was born April 26, 1961 in the Siberian city of Irkutsk. When Galina was three, her family moved to Nevinnomyssk, the North Caucasus. She has always dreamed to become a ballerina. At the age of five she began studying at the local ballet school at the Palace of Culture of chemists. Then, 12 year-old Galina entered the Voronezh Ballet School. Here she was noticed by the assistant of director Emil Loteanu. He was looking for the female role in the film “A Hunting Accident” (in Russia the film is titled “My Affectionate and Tender Beast”) on “The Shooting Party” by AP Chekhov. So, 16 year-old Galina Belyaeva, quite unexpectedly, became a movie actress. In the film she played a young Olenka Skvortsova, the daughter of a forester, seduced by an elderly earl.
Participation in the film became a real test for the future actress Galina Belyaeva. Her partners were famous Russian actors, real movie stars, such as Oleg Yankovskiy (Kamyshev), Kirill Lavrov (Count Karneyev), Leonid Markov (Urbenin), Svetlana Toma. Rehearsals became more and more interesting. Besides, Galina had to learn to cry, ride a horse, and master the intricacies, required from her. Surprisingly, after the word “Action!” Galina Belyaeva all of a sudden turned into Olenka Skvortsova.
After this debut, followed new proposals to act, but for a while, Galina continued to consider herself a ballerina. And who knows what would have won – ballet or movie, if not love. In the course of filming, Emil Loteanu fell in love with Galina Belyaeva. And by the time the film was released on the screen, they had become husband and wife, and soon they had a son – Emil Lotyanu Jr.
In 1979 Galina graduated from the Voronezh Ballet School, then entered the Shchukin Drama School. After graduation in 1983, the actress was invited to the troupe of the Moscow Mayakovsky Theater, where her debut role was Vika Lyubertskaya in the play based on the novel by Boris Vasilyev “Tomorrow Was the War”.

In this picture Galina Belyaeva not only played a major role, but also performed the majority of ballet dancing parties. She recalls: “I longed to play the role of Anna Pavlova, even dreamed at night. She’s a really legendary ballerina. Critics of the time unanimously called her divine. She, during the dance for a few seconds literally hung over the scene. As if hovering. Nobody could understand how this is possible. We are trying to find some reasonable explanation, but you can not explain a miracle.
However, after the release of the film, on the creators showered criticism from professional ballet men of the Bolshoi Theater, but the ordinary people met it warmly. Galina Belyaeva recalls: “With “Anna Pavlova” we traveled throughout the Soviet Union. When I went to the scene of the auditorium, people were kissing my hands, put on the ring, handed some gifts”.
In the first half of 1980s Galina Belyaeva continued to play in the movies.
