Russian Stars photoart exhibition will take place from 5 to 11 December 2014 at the Photo Center on Gogol Boulevard, Moscow. “Stars in Silver” – original ambrotypes depicting famous people in unusual fairy-tale image. Magical connection of past and present, the cross of time, captured with the silver on the glass. The word “ambrotypes” appeared in the history of photography in the middle of the XIX century. The invention of a method of taking pictures made photography more affordable and popular. Then, in March 1851, the author of this method Englishman Frederick Scott Archer presented to the Royal Society of Great Britain and the Paris Academy of Sciences report on collodion positive method for obtaining photographic images. Archer called it “ambrotypes”, which from Greek means “immortal imprint.”
In the XXI century technologies like Photoshop or a special filter in the mobile gadget easily allow each of us to convert any digital picture into the picture a la ambrotypes. But the photographer is quite comparable with the artist to recreate the image of the past. Imagine: a centenary wooden camera, photographer, throws on himself the black cloth, all this miraculous process with glass, lasting 10-15 minutes results in an amazingly beautiful artistic image of the last century.
And now there are photographers who are serious about turning to technology by Archer and make vintage photographs on glass. All manipulations of glass that takes about 5 minutes, is similar to a small theater performance, as a result of which the photographer turns into a magician, and by means of “alchemy” creates a miracle – the appearance of the image.
To draw attention to the project “Stars in silver” for filming were invited famous people: Evelina Bledans, Lyudmila Artemyeva, Kirill Andreev (“Ivanushki International»), Anastasia Panina, Laysan Utyasheva, Anna Churina, Alyona Zavarzina, Elena Zakharova, Pavel Artemyev (group «ARTEMIEV»), Michael Dorozhkin, Nadezhda Granovskaya and many others.
