History

The history of the village is inextricably linked with the fort, named after Admiral Mikhail Lazarev, and in 1869 the village was founded. Its first settlers were Greeks, then Russians, Georgians, Persians, Armenians, Poles, Lithuanians, and Germans began to come here. Even today, Lazarevskoye is a real settlement of friendship of peoples: representatives of about 100 nationalities live in it.

The heyday of Lazarevsky can be considered the 30s of the last century. It was at this time that active housing construction was carried out here, new sanatoriums were opened, a house of culture, a library, and cinemas were built. In 1938, Lazarevskoye hosted over four thousand tourists.

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was included in the Tuapse defense region. The battles were very close – at the Grachevsky Pass. A military airfield was built here. After the war, construction continued in the village; it became a real resort center of the “northern wing” of Sochi. Today Lazarevskoye receives over 500 thousand tourists from different regions of Russia a year.

The central beach of the village is “Azure”. Covered with large and medium pebbles, it stretches for almost half a kilometer along the Black Sea. The beaches “Flamingo” and “Starfish” are very popular among tourists with children, and this is understandable: there is a water park nearby.

Seagull Beach gives vacationers the opportunity to feel the contrast between swimming in fresh and sea water: right in the middle of the pebbly strip of the beach is the mouth of the Psezuapse River.

The Svir River flows in the center of the Svir Gorge. It is surrounded by overhanging rocks, here it blows cool even on the hottest day. Getting under the arches of the gorge, tourists begin to speak in a whisper. They say that, having plunged into the Svir waterfall, a person is cleansed of sins. The gorge is associated with the name of St. Alexander Svirsky, to whom they pray for the gift of a male child. Therefore, families who dream of the birth of a boy are drawn to the waterfalls.

A special place is located next to the mineral hydrogen sulphide spring, in the gorge, along which the mountain rocky river Godlik runs. This is a unique dolmen-monolith made of sandstone stone, there are no other similar ones in the Caucasus. It reaches 6 meters in height and 7.5 in width. Dolmen is the same age as the Egyptian pyramids.

Enexplained things often happen here. For example, the hands of a clock suddenly start going backwards or freeze.
The dolmen has a hole-funnel for water drainage, and on the roof there is a recess with a diameter of about 60 cm. It testifies that the mysterious object served people as a ritual cup stone and was a sanctuary. There is a version that the dolmen is an ancient burial structure, a burial vault. They tell different stories about the mystical properties of the dolmen and the place that surrounds it. They say that here you can make a cherished wish. If it is good, then it will certainly come true.
